I’ve decided to embark on the long journey of Project 365; where you take a photograph a day for an entire year. I’m hoping I won’t decide to quit after a week, because I think it’d be an interesting experience and definitely give me more compositional techniques and ways of looking at things. We’ll see.

This week has been pretty intense. Monday, James and I went to Vermont to see the Doppler Effect (not that we don’t see them enough or anything) but it was pretty awesome. I shot some photographs, which came out kind of grainy due to the intensely high ISO but they came out kind of decent. Tuesday wasn’t so busy; I had topics (where we really did nothing but watch a video on the Nikon flash units which, by the way, were pretty awesome). Wednesday I worked in the morning, then James, Eva, Erin, Ryan, and I went to Albany to hopefully see the AP Tour concert. After many events of locking my keys in my car and almost not getting into the show, I got a chance to see the Maine. They were absolutely amazing. I mean, there are bands that yeah, they’re good live, but I wouldn’t see them again. I would definitely see the Maine again. Everyone else that played was pretty terrible, but it was okay. Today I had class, and I shot and edited the rest of my work for Digital 2 (I’m so glad I’m done with it all). We just finished going over our portfolios and taking things out/adding things in.

I guess what it gets down to is the image on the top of this blog. It’s a composite; my final for digital 2. I’m not really sure how much I like it or dislike it. I shot Ryan/the coal miner in the studio with a single light with a medium sized parabolic bowl. Honestly, I could have done a better job at that but I think it came out somewhat decent for what it is. The background was shot at Split Rock Quarry at 10pm with three flashlights. The exposure was something like 4 minutes. I only had a chance to get two shots because the friends I brought along were terrified of wild dogs or something along that line. It’s whatever.

Last night we went to this really creepy road in Chittenango called Gulf Rd. If you’ve never been there, I would highly suggest it, but probably at night because it doesnt seem to me like it would be as scary during the day. But anyways, we were looking for this fire tower (which turns out to be really far away, but I’m sure we’ll go there some day) that they apparently used to watch for forest fires in or something, and according to a friend one night while someone was up there, they had a heart attack and died. Supposedly it’s haunted. But we couldn’t find it because we didn’t really know where it was, but I suppose it’s okay. After our Chittenango adventure, we went up to Starr Hill Rd. Besides a lot of froggies hopping around, we didn’t really see much. There was a party going on (what a surprise) so we didn’t end up driving all the way to the cemetery. We probably wouldn’t have anyways because my car doesn’t have four wheel drive, and it honestly didn’t really look too safe. I think we’re going back up there tonight though, but in the Jeep.

For lack of a better photograph on this computer (god only knows why I’m on the desktop), here’s an un-doctored photograph I took quite some time ago in or around Floyd, NY. My cousin and I were driving up the road one day, and she pointed out this tree, so I suggested that we might get out and take a couple photographs. Of course, her film didn’t catch so none of hers came out, but I only had my digital on me so I shot a couple frames and off we went.

Today was a good day.
I went to work at noon, and it was pretty slow for the first two hours, but I don’t think it was because I didn’t want to be there, I think I just wasn’t excited about the people that were working with me. I guess I don’t really have anything against older people, but they seem to be kind of boring to work with since I have nothing in common with them. They all have children and full-time jobs, while I’m still going to school and have no intentions on having any children any time soon, or even probably ever. It was raining when I got out, and it was kind of windy but I didn’t really mind. I got ready and went to seminar, where we watched some television show on hulu because we really didn’t have anything better to do. We went to the gallery after that, and people claimed their spots. I’m not really too sure why everyone was so frantic to claim a spot on the one wall that we have to display our work on. I just stood around and waited for everyone to hang out, and took a spot where it was empty because someone may have moved, or I may have just squeezed in between someone. I’m not really too sure.

Tomorrow is Thursday, and I have class at 11, even though I really do not enjoy it. I guess I have to go. I’m going to the gym with my aunt and my cousin, and then we’re going to write a cover letter and a resume. I have Corey’s class tomorrow. I think that maybe I should talk to him and get all the work I didn’t hand in, but I probably will forget.

Maybe I’m going to go on a photo shoot on Friday, since I really do not have anything to do in the morning until eleven. I might go to Genesee Street and see what’s up in the morning. Maybe some rainy day, and a lot of umbrellas and young mothers with their children on the way to the bus stop, or maybe just going for a walk with their strollers, or maybe just a child-pack (those back-pack looking things, except you put your child in it! neat). Then Annie and I are going to see the Doppler Effect and company, and maybe I will shoot some at that for my portfolio. I will upload them, no doubt.

I made this card, because we’re supposed to have business cards for seminar, and this is the only thing I could think of. It’s kind of plain, and maybe kind of lame, but I guess I like it. The back just has my phone number, and this link and my e-mail on it. Not really anything too amazing, but it’s okay.
